Story

A long-haired girl sits cramped inside a tiny room, her head almost brushing against the ceiling above her. The scene illustrates the moment Alice outgrows her surroundings in Lewis Carroll's story. This lithograph dates from 1891. It was made by John Tenniel, a British caricaturist and graphic artist who lived from 1820 to 1914, also known for Dropping the Pilot.
