Story
A footman with the head of a fish stands in formal dress, handing a sealed envelope to a shorter messenger with a frog-like face, the pair positioned before a stone building with columns. The scene is a lithograph made in 1891, drawn in black ink against pale paper. John Tenniel, a British caricaturist and graphic artist who lived from 1820 to 1914, created this illustration for Lewis Carroll's story.
