Story

Several joined panels present stylized plants and creatures surrounding central tree shapes, painted in blues, greens, yellows, and earthy browns. The imagery blends organic forms into a layered, almost decorative arrangement across the surface. Joseph Stella created this oil composition in 1919, drawing on his engagement with Futurism and Precisionism as an Italian-American artist. The piece entered its collection through a purchase at Christies in 2018.
