Story

A white bowl and a yellow spoon break apart into angular, overlapping geometric shapes, bound together by heavy black outlines against a dark backdrop. The composition reduces simple kitchen objects into shifting planes that merge with the surrounding space. Juan Gris painted this still life in oil in 1918. Gris, a Spanish artist, worked within cubism, breaking ordinary household items into fragmented structure rather than depicting them naturally.

Where it works

Warm-toned artwork suited to dens and media rooms, and to boardrooms, in a horizontal format.
