Excelsior Poster

Story

Figures in refined attire twist and lean through the composition, their motion set sharply against a deep, shadowed backdrop. Warm tones of yellow, orange, and white light up the scene, giving the poster an energetic glow. Created in 1908 as a French advertising poster, the piece reflects the hand of Jules Alexander Grun (1868–1938), a French artist associated with Post-impressionism who also worked as a caricaturist and graphic draftsperson.

Where it works

Warm-toned artwork suited to living rooms and dining rooms, and to restaurants, in a horizontal format.
