Palais de Glace Poster

Story

A fashionably dressed woman and man stand close together, set off by a backdrop of red and yellow striped fabric that announces the Palais de Glace at Champs-Élysées. The poster dates from 1896, created in the vivid, poster-print style associated with advertising of that era. Jules Chéret (1836–1932), a French artist working within Art Nouveau, produced this piece as a designer and draftsperson of promotional imagery.

Where it works

Warm-toned artwork suited to living rooms and dining rooms, and to restaurants, in a vertical format.
