Story

A face rendered in bold orange sits beside a sweep of green hair, set against a warm reddish-brown backdrop. The figure wears garments in cream and dark tones, simplified into flat shapes rather than fine detail. This gouache on paper work was made in 1910 by Kazimir Malevich (1879–1935), an artist associated with the Russian avant-garde and Suprematism, whose later notable work includes Black Square.
