Suprematism

Story

A scattering of rectangles, lines, and flat shapes in red, yellow, blue, black, and pink floats across a pale background, arranged without any single fixed center. The composition is oil on canvas, made in 1915, and it is held by the Russian Museum. Kazimir Malevich (1879–1935) painted it as part of Suprematism, a movement he worked within as a figure of the Russian avant-garde.
