Suprematist Composition

Story

Flat geometric shapes float freely across a white ground: rectangles and angled forms in black, green, blue, yellow, orange, pink, and red, scattered without a fixed center or horizon. The arrangement feels weightless, as if the forms hover in open space rather than rest on a surface. Painted in oil in 1916, the composition belongs to Kazimir Malevich (1879–1935), a key figure in Suprematism and the Russian avant-garde.
