Alexander and the Wind-Up Mouse I

Story

A seated brown bear dressed in a red printed garment shares space with a dark-feathered bird and a pair of small mice, all set before a background covered in flower motifs. The scene comes from Alexander and the Wind-Up Mouse I, created in 1969. Leo Lionni (1910–1999), a children's writer, designer, and graphic artist with American and Italian citizenship, made this piece as part of his storytelling work.

Where it works

A warm-toned figure study suited to kids' rooms and bedrooms, and to restaurants, in a horizontal format.
