Fortune Magazine Cover

Story

The word "New York" repeats across the composition, set in colorful letters that march diagonally across a dark gray ground, creating a rhythmic grid of text rather than a conventional illustration. This cover design dates to 1960, made for Fortune Magazine. Leo Lionni (1910–1999), an Italian and American designer, graphic artist, and children's writer, created this piece.

Where it works

Suited to media rooms and studies, and to restaurants, in a vertical format.
