Story

Two stylized mice perch together on a branch, set against a dark night sky where a crescent moon glows among scattered stars. The simplified shapes and quiet nighttime setting give the image a storybook sensibility. Leo Lionni, born in 1910 and died in 1999, held American and Italian citizenship, including the Kingdom of Italy, and worked as a children's writer, designer, and graphic artist, bringing those sensibilities into this piece titled Let's Play I.

Where it works

A muted figure study suited to nurseries and kids' rooms, and to hotel guest rooms, in a horizontal format.
