Matthew's Dream XIV

Story

A pair of small mice, their ears and tails tinted pink, gather before a lively abstract composition. Patches of orange, yellow, black, and green float across a blue field, as if the creatures are studying the shapes with quiet curiosity. The piece dates from 1990. Its creator, Leo Lionni (1910–1999), was an American and Italian children's writer, designer, and graphic artist.

Where it works

A pastel figure study suited to kids' rooms and kitchens, and to restaurants, in a horizontal format.
