Matthew's Dream XVII

Story

Two small brown mice drift together, each holding a pink balloon, surrounded by bold patches of green, yellow, orange, and blue arranged in loose, playful shapes. The scene reads like an illustration from a storybook made for young readers. The piece is titled Matthew's Dream XVII, created by Leo Lionni, an American and Italian artist. Lionni worked as a children's writer, designer, and graphic artist, bringing a storybook sensibility to this colorful composition.

Where it works

A figure study suited to kids' rooms and nurseries, and to hotel guest rooms, in a vertical format.
