Story

A winged figure lowers to one knee before a seated young woman inside a columned Renaissance room, with a quiet landscape stretching beyond the loggia. Soft earth tones and muted colors give the scene a hushed, reverent calm. This panel, painted in oil in 1472, belongs to the High Renaissance period. The artist, Leonardo da Vinci, born in 1452 and died in 1519, was Italian and worked within the broader Renaissance tradition.
