Story
Two women's faces appear side by side in profile, their eyes lowered in quiet contemplation, rendered with soft brown tones against aged tan paper. The drawing is a detail of heads from a larger composition showing the Virgin and Child with other sacred figures. It was made in charcoal and chalk on tinted paper around 1499, the work of an Italian artist active during the High Renaissance.
