Story
Angular buildings in yellow and brown rise against patches of green and blue, their rooftops and walls broken into sharp geometric planes. The composition favors fractured form over realistic detail, giving the village a crystalline, faceted structure. Lyonel Feininger painted this oil work titled Denstedt in 1917, working within an Expressionist approach that reshaped the landscape into interlocking shapes. The piece comes from the Daniel J. Terra Collection.
