Lynn Meadows

Story

A quiet marsh stretches toward a far bridge, its waters catching the last gold light of a setting sun. Earthy browns and soft greens settle across the scene, giving the whole view a calm, hushed glow. The piece was painted in oil in 1863 by Martin Johnson Heade (1819–1904), an American painter associated with the Hudson River school and Luminism.
