Story

A woman dressed in deep blue with a yellow skirt cradles a fair-haired toddler, set against a green backdrop with branches draping down from above. The scene unfolds in drypoint and aquatint printed in color on ivory laid paper, created in 1896. The piece reflects Mary Cassatt's involvement with Impressionism, an American artist born in 1844 and died in 1926. It now belongs to the Terra Foundation for American Art, having come from the Daniel J. Terra Collection.
