Story

A man appears in profile, dressed in dark robes and gripping an ornate pipe, his hair black and a red mark set upon his forehead. The figure is rendered as the kabuki actor Sawamura Gennosuke in the role of Niki. This color woodblock print was made in 1928 by Natori Shunsen (1886–1960), a Japanese printmaker associated with the Nihonga movement.
