Story

A kabuki performer appears in formal stage makeup, dressed in a dark blue robe and gripping an umbrella. Behind him, a tan and rust background radiates outward while snow drifts down, giving the scene a quiet, theatrical stillness. The image portrays Sawamura Sojuro as Narihira Reizo. This color woodblock print was made in 1927 by Natori Shunsen, a Japanese artist (1886–1960) associated with the Nihonga movement.
