The figure represents actor Nakamura Jakuemon III performing the role of Oshichi. This color woodblock print was made in 1927 by Natori Shunsen, a Japanese artist associated with the Nihonga movement, who worked as an illustrator and printmaker in the ukiyo-e tradition.
