Flowers

Story

Loose, organic shapes drift across a neutral ground, their petal-like forms rendered in blue, yellow, red, and green. Nothing resolves into a precise bloom; instead the composition reads as a free arrangement of color and form suggesting flowers rather than depicting them literally. The work is by Odilon Redon (1840–1916), a French artist associated with Symbolism, known also for pieces such as The Cyclops.

Where it works

Suited to living rooms and hallways, and to restaurants, in a vertical format.
