Story

A ceramic pitcher glazed in white with blue ornamental patterns stands against a plain beige backdrop, filled with red peonies and small blue blossoms. Odilon Redon painted this still life in oil in 1900. French by citizenship, Redon worked within Symbolism, and his output also included Les Yeux clos. The piece entered the Baltimore Museum of Art through a collection formed by Dr. Claribel Cone and Miss Etta Cone of Baltimore, Maryland.
