Story

Overlapping geometric shapes fill the canvas, their edges meeting and crossing in black, white, blue, green, red, yellow, and pink. The forms suggest planes stacked and tilted against one another, flattened into a dense arrangement without a clear single viewpoint. This is an oil painting completed in 1916. Patrick Henry Bruce, an American painter born in 1881 and died in 1936, worked within cubism, and the piece is held at Yale University Art Gallery.
