Poissons Et Crustacaes

Story

Two red fish curve beside a yellow serpent, their bodies set among brown, branching seaweed that spreads across a bright yellow background. The forms interlace closely, giving the scene a decorative, patterned quality. The piece is attributed to Paul Elie Ranson, a French artist who lived from 1861 to 1909. Ranson worked within Symbolism, and he was also known as a painter, printmaker, and ceramicist, with the notable work Witch with a black cat.

Where it works

Warm-toned artwork suited to dining rooms and kids' rooms, and to restaurants, in a vertical format.
