The Clearing

Story

A forest opening reveals twisted trees heavy with red and yellow leaves, their shapes set against warm earth tones that meet cooler blue passages in the background. The scene balances dense foliage with open space, giving the clearing a quiet, enclosed feeling. The work comes from Paul Elie Ranson (1861–1909), a French artist associated with Symbolism, whose practice spanned painting, printmaking, and ceramics.

Where it works

Warm-toned artwork suited to living rooms and dining rooms, and to hotel guest rooms, in a horizontal format.
