Down the More Troubling Bird

Story

A spindly bird stretches across the composition, its limbs lengthened into odd angles and its body broken into geometric shapes drawn in fine pen lines, set against a mottled yellow-green ground. The piece combines watercolour, gouache, and pen and ink on paper, created in 1925 by Paul Klee (1879–1940), a German-Swiss artist. Klee worked within the Bauhaus movement, also associated with Color Field and Expressionism.
