Story
A grid of stylized architectural shapes and circular forms spreads across the composition, rendered in greens, blacks, and cream, suggesting gates or sluices arranged in careful rows. The piece, titled Floodgates, was made with watercolour on paper in 1922. Paul Klee (1879–1940), a German-Swiss artist, created it during his association with the Bauhaus movement.
