Story
A patchwork of blocky color fields fills the canvas, built from an uneven lattice of squares in muted browns, rust reds, and soft greens that shift tone across the surface. The painting, done in oil in 1936, shows a quiet, structured kind of color harmony. Paul Klee, German-Swiss (1879–1940), worked within Bauhaus circles, and the piece belongs to the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.
