Story

Rectangular sections overlap and interlock across the sheet, their edges carrying thin linear patterns that thread through fields of orange, blue, yellow, gray, and white. The shapes stack and shift against one another, creating a quiet rhythm of geometric division. This gouache on paper was made in 1924 by Paul Klee (1879–1940), a German-Swiss artist associated with the Bauhaus.
