Story
A patchwork of rectangles in green, violet, and blue fills the composition, interrupted by a curved crescent shape and a small orange oval that stands apart from the cooler tones. Paul Klee made this watercolor and graphite work in 1922, building the image from a grid-like arrangement rather than a realistic scene. Klee, a German-Swiss artist, worked within the Bauhaus movement. The piece came to its collection as a gift.
