Story
Angular ships and vessels drift across a washed field of yellow, purple, and pink, their forms built from loose black ink lines laid over the color. The composition stays abstract, favoring geometric shapes rather than any detailed harbor scene. The piece was made in 1919 using watercolor, pen, and black ink on paper. Paul Klee, a German-Swiss artist born in 1879 and died in 1940, worked within movements including Expressionism and later the Bauhaus.
