Pinewood, St. Tropez

Story

Pine trees cluster on a slope, their branches framing a view down toward a coastal town and bay. Dabs of yellow, blue, and earthy brown build up the grove, the water, and the distant rooftops, giving the whole scene a shimmering, dotted texture. The piece is an oil painting completed in 1892 by Paul Signac, a French painter associated with pointillism (1863–1935).
