The Bonaventure Pine

Story

A twisted pine with dark blue-green needles leans over a coastal view, its branches framing distant mountains and sailboats scattered across the water. The scene is built from small dabs of color, giving the landscape a shimmering, textured quality. This oil painting dates from 1893, created by Paul Signac (1863–1935), a French artist associated with pointillism. The museum received it as a gift from Audrey Jones Beck.
