Alstromeria with butterfly

Story

A flowering alstroemeria stem fills the composition, its red and white blooms set against pale green leaves on a soft cream background. A butterfly rests near the petals while a bee hovers close by, adding movement to the botanical arrangement. The image is a hand-colored engraving titled Alstromeria with butterfly. It was made by Pierre Joseph Buchoz, a French botanist and entomologist who also worked as a jurist, born in 1731 and died in 1807.
