Story

A slender Aristea plant rises with blue flowers and striped green leaves, its brown bulb exposed at the base, while two insects rest nearby against a plain cream backdrop. The image is rendered as a hand-colored engraving, combining precise botanical detail with delicate tinting. It was created by Pierre Joseph Buchoz (1731–1807), a French botanist and entomologist whose work documented plant life with scientific care.
