Red and white striped poppy with moth

Story

A cluster of red and white striped poppies rises on green stems with slender leaves, while a brown moth rests nearby among the blooms. The composition is rendered as a hand-colored engraving, capturing fine detail in both the flowers and insect. Pierre Joseph Buchoz (1731–1807), a French botanist, entomologist, and jurist, created this piece reflecting his scientific interests in plant and insect life.
