Smilax with bird

Story

A bird with blue, shimmering feathers rests on a pale blue stone, framed by lush green leaves and clusters of red berries, set within a botanical scene. The piece is a hand-colored engraving, part of a plant study featuring smilax. It was created by Pierre Joseph Buchoz (1731–1807), a French botanist whose work combined scientific observation with careful illustration of natural specimens.

Where it works

Cool-toned artwork suited to libraries and dining rooms, and to hotel guest rooms, in a vertical format.
