Story

A packed household gathers around a dinner table, several generations crowded together, painted with bold strokes of green, red, and brown. The scene opens up like a sliced-open apartment block, letting the viewer peek into the busy rooms of city life. The piece was made in oil in 1972. Ralph Fasanella (1914–1997), an American painter and trade unionist, also created Subway Riders.
