Story

A packed tavern scene unfolds along a wooden bar, where many people gather side by side, some seated and others standing in conversation. Behind them rises a brick wall lined with nine framed windows, giving structure to the lively crowd below. The piece is rendered in oil, completed in 1984. Ralph Fasanella (1914–1997), an American painter and trade unionist, also created Subway Riders.
