Story
A dense crowd fills an urban square lined with brick buildings, while a parade moves through the scene beneath a blue sky, surrounded by various architectural landmarks. Ralph Fasanella painted this scene in oil in 1977, portraying the Bread and Roses Strike in Lawrence from 1912. Fasanella, born in 1914 and died in 1997, worked as an American painter and trade unionist, also known for Subway Riders. The piece came to Lawrence Heritage State Park and the City of Lawrence, Massachusetts.
