Story

A lakeside gathering unfolds beneath tall trees, with people relaxing and fishing along the shore, rendered in greens, blues, and yellows that give the scene a bright, open feel. The composition captures a quiet stretch of outdoor life, figures scattered near the water under a canopy of foliage. Ralph Fasanella painted this scene in oil in 1979. Fasanella, who lived from 1914 to 1997, was an American painter and trade unionist, also known for his work Subway Riders.
