Story

A dense cityscape unfolds with a bridge spanning the skyline above packed rows of buildings, while small figures and colorful shapes animate the streets below. The scene captures layers of urban life stacked from pavement to rooftop. Painted in oil in 1957, the work comes from Ralph Fasanella, an American painter who also worked as a trade unionist, and whose notable work includes Subway Riders.
