Story

A packed ballpark glows under a dense crowd of spectators, players poised on the field, with a city skyline rising behind the stands in bright turquoise, red, and yellow tones. The scene is rendered in oil, completed in 1981. The painter, Ralph Fasanella (1914–1997), was American, working as both a painter and a trade unionist, and also created Subway Riders.

Where it works

A city scene suited to kids' rooms and living rooms, and to restaurants, in a horizontal format.
