Story
Rows of brick buildings and factories rise above streets packed with people, trains threading through the dense industrial scene as a strike unfolds across the city. Crowds gather in clusters, filling the roadways beneath smokestacks and windowed facades in this layered depiction of collective action. Painted in oil in 1978, the piece comes from Ralph Fasanella (1914–1997), an American painter and trade unionist.
