Story

A seaside village along the Mediterranean unfolds in warm terracotta rooftops set against bright blue water, with a twisted tree trunk in browns and greens framing the scene in the foreground. Raoul Dufy painted this view in oil on canvas, mounted on panel, in 1927. The French artist worked within Fauvism, and the piece entered the McNay Art Museum through the bequest of Marion Koogler McNay.
