Story

Tall poplars line a stretch of countryside where grain fields glow with scattered red poppies beneath a wide blue sky. Small figures rest in the shade cast by the trees, giving the scene a quiet, human scale amid the open farmland. The piece is an oil on canvas completed in 1984 by René Genis, a French painter and printmaker born in 1922 and died in 2004, working within a French artistic tradition.
