Story
A small cottage with red walls sits tucked beneath sprawling elm trees, rendered in blues, greens, and earthy tones under a pale sky. Robert Polhill Bevan painted this scene in oil on panel in 1905. Bevan (1865–1925) was a British painter associated with the Pont-Aven School. The piece belongs to the Ackland Art Museum, having come through the Joseph F. McCrindle Collection at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
