Story

A leafy potted plant rises from a terracotta container, set among white vessels and objects arranged against a plain backdrop. The grouping suggests a quiet tabletop arrangement, with the dark foliage standing out from the surrounding pale shapes. This still life was painted in oil in 1924 by Samuel John Peploe, a British painter who lived from 1871 to 1935.
